Status: Despite conflicts and lawsuits this project has commenced. Berry IslandsBonds CayLocation: Bonds Cay, Berry Islands Developer: Antonio de La Rua, Shakira, Roger Waters, Alejandro Sanz, Arturo Rubinstein Size: 700 acres Projected Investment: Features: Boutique Hotel, Luxury Condominiums, Artists Retreat Status: Mid-2007; first phase of offerings 2010 Chub Cay Marina And Resort Location: Chub Cay, Berry islands Size: 870 acres Developer: Chub Cay Club Associates Ltd, Florida-based development team including Kaye Pearson, Bob Moss and Walt McCrory Projected Investment: $300 million Features: 5,000 foot runway with customs and immigration, 219-slip marina, restaurants, dive shop, villas, townhouses and residential lots Status: The marina opened in June 2006 with half of the planned slips. Completion is expected in late 2007/2008 BiminiBimini Bay Resort & CasinoLocation: Bimini Size: 700 acres Developer: Gerard Capo of Miami-based Capo Group Projected Investment: $400 million Features: 2,100 residential units, a 250-room luxury hotel managed by Conrad Hilton, a 20,000 square foot casino, convention center, marina and 18-hole golf course Status: First phase is completed and open. Completion of remaining project expected in 2008, or 2009 Cat IslandCrystal Mount ResortLocation: South Cat Island Size: 500 acres Developer: Crystal Mount Limited, a company owned by Hamad Jassim Mohammad Al-Thani, a businessman and member of the royal family of Qatar and Mr. Zumot, an entrepreneur with emphasis in land development Projected Investment: $26 million Features: Plans include a "Monte Carlo-styled casino," 250-room hotel, 75 villas and at least 100 estate lots Status: Government approval granted January 2006 Flamingo Point Location: Arthurs Town, Cat Island Size: unknown Developer: Barry Beschel Projected Investment: unknown Features: Oceanfront Lots Status: 80% sold EleutheraCotton BayLocation: Rock Sound, Eleuthera Size: 1,500 acres Developer: Eleuthera Properties, Ltd. Pineapple Fields Location: near Governor's Harbour (formerly the site of the Potlatch club) Size: 80 acres Developer: Out Island Resort Management (OIRM), principals include David Barlyn, Peter Birkweiser and Chris Lightbourn Features: 32-unit condo/hotel, a spa, cottages and single family homes. Also a beachfront restaurant and gourmet deli Status: the restaurant (Tippy's), gourmet deli and 12 units of the condo/hotel are open. Powell Point At Cape Eleuthera Location: Cape Eleuthera Size: 700 acres Developer: Alticor, parent company of Amway Corp. owned by Richard M. DeVos family, Michigan Projected Investment: Features: Estate homes, beach villas, town homes, marina Status: Currently under construction, opening in 2007 Pricing: Beach villa lots start at $600,000, estate lots and townhouses start at $800,000 Royal Island Location: Royal Island, near Harbour Island, Eleuthera Size: 20 acres Developer: Cypress Equities, development affiliate of The Staubach Company Projected Investment: $500 million Features: Private residential community with 18-hole golf course, exclusive 5-star resort and 200-slip marina Status: Construction is expected to start in phases in 2007. The W.P. Stewart house ruins have been cleared in preparation for the infrastructural development. Sky Beach Club Location: Governors Harbour, Eleuthera Size: 22 acres Developer: Sky Beach Development (Eleuthera) Ltd. is a blended partnership of Pinnacle Development Partners, LLC and David Sklar of KRA, Inc Projected Investment: Features: 35 resort homes, clubhouse pool, beach, one-story, split level and two-story homes Status: Landscaping started early 2006, construction began April 2007 Pricing: $2.7 - $3.7 million ExumaCrab CayLocation: Crab Cay, just south of Great Exuma Size: 200 acres Developer: Murphy International Development Projected Investment: $350 million Features: An eco-sensitive resort with 54 upscale, waterfront villas, 5-star hotel, spa, marina, restaurants, and a harbour village with retail shops. Status: Ground broken in early 2007. Phase one is scheduled for completion by 2009 Emerald Bay Resort Location: Great Exuma Size: 470 acres Developer: EBR Holding Ltd. of Great Exuma Projected Investment: $150 million Features: Luxury island resort community with access to 183-room Four Seasons hotel, crescent-shaped beach, golf course designed by Greg Norman, 150-slip marina able to handle boats up to 200 feet long Status: Hotel opened in 2003. Condos and single family homes planned Pricing: lots starting at $400,000 February Point Location: Great Exuma Size: 80 acres Developer: February Point Resort Estates Ltd. Projected Investment: Features: Restaurant, laundry services, fitness center, and a fully computerized business centre with secretarial services and Internet connection. Status: Open and expanding Grand BahamaGinn Sur MerLocation: West End, Grand Bahama Size: 2,000 acres Developer: The Ginn Company, Florida-based Projected Investment: $5 billion Features: 4,400 condominium and hotel units, 1,800 single family residential sites, 2 golf courses designed by Jack Nicklaus & Arnold Palmer, mega-yacht marina plus an additional marina, private club, private airport, casino Status: This is the largest resort community project to come to the Bahamas, including Atlantis. Ginn will start by developing the marinas and golf courses. Full completion is expected to take 20 years. Pricing: golf course, deepwater, and oceanfront homesites expected to range from $600,000 to $1 million and up. Old Bahama Bay Location: West End, Grand Bahama Size: 228 acres Developer: West End Developers Projected Investment: $585 million Features: Boutique 73 suite hotel now open; waterfront residential community with 82 homesites, 72-slip marina, customs house Status: Ginn Resorts has taken over management of Old Bahama Bay Paradise IslandThe Residences At AtlantisLocation: Paradise Island, New Providence Size: 171 acres Developer: Kerzner International and Turnberry Associates Projected Investment: $1 billion Features: 2,317 room resort, 7 acre lagoon within a 78 acre "waterscape", casino, numerous restaurants and shops, spa and fitness center, theatre, 63-slip marina and marina village, marine habitat and dolphin facility, 22-storey/ 500-unit condo hotel Status: Completion expected in 2008 Pricing: $700,000 to $3,400,000 The Residences At The Ritz-Carlton Location: Rose Island, private island 4 miles off New Providence Developer: Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company Size: 230 acres Projected Investment $900 million Features: Hotel, 300-slip marina, 400 residential units including condo hotel units, townhouses, villas and private estate homesites. Status: Government approval granted in 2005. Opening is set for 2009 MayaguanaMayaguana ResortLocation: Mayaguana Size: 10,000 acres Developer: Hotel Corporation of the Bahamas and Boston-based "I Group" Projected Investment: $1.8 billion Features: The Initial Investment will include major airport enhancements and expansions to feature the "longest runway in the worls", a boutique commercial resort facility and small marina basin, residential home sites, golf courses and infrastructure development. Status: Agreed in principle but no official approval Rum CayRum Cay Resort MarinaLocation: Rum Cay Size: 900 acres Developer: Montana Holdings of Nassau Projected Investment: $700 million Features: New Airport Terminal, and hangar, 80-slip marina, hotel and marina village Status: Government approval in 2004.
