The Berry Islands is a cluster of thirty small islands and about 100 cays. Most of the seven hundred residents live on Great Harbour Cay, the most northern of the islands. At eight miles long and 1.5 miles wide it is also the largest of the Berry Island cays.
Great Harbour Cay and Bamboo Cay, where Bullocks Harbour is located, were once a single landmass. Bullocks Harbour is the largest settlement in the Berries and shares with Great Harbour Cay a public school and the Government Administration Building - which houses the local government offices, the post office, medical clinic and the Berry islands Co-operative Credit Union. They also share a police station.
Chub Cay, the second largest island in the Berry Island cluster, borders the deep-water trench called the Tongue of the Ocean, and is known as the Billfish capital of The Bahamas.
Primarily uninhabited and having escaped development, these secluded islands are most visited as a vacation retreat.

Many of the cays are privately owned such as Frazier's Hog Cay and Bonds Cay, Crab Cay, Frozen Cay, Alder Cay, Bird Cay and Petite Cay. Royal Caribbean International leases Little Stirrup Cay, referred to as Coco Cay, for use by the guests of their cruise lines. Norwegian Cruise Lines leases Great Stirrup Cay.
